Commercial / Industrial HVAC Manufacturing Facility
Net Zero Power (NZP) was contacted by Johnson Controls to participate in this milestone project to benchmark best practices for carbon emissions reduction and return on investment.
The facility is a 1.1 million square foot facility that manufactures large rooftop HVAC equipment. NZP replaced 12 traditional high voltage transformers with high efficiency transformers equipped with voltage optimization and remote metering/monitoring and supplied the transformer for the new solar parking canopy in the employee parking area.
Results
Net Zero Power completed the project over weekends and nights to avoid production delays and delivered the project on time and on budget. Savings exceeded the 7% projection, and this project is poised to reduce the carbon emissions by the plant by 33 million pounds annually.

Canandaigua, New York Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant
The City of Canandaigua embarked on a plan to refurbish the town’s treatment plant by upgrading to the most environmentally friendly design. Plants that operate in this design produce a finished product that is commercially viable as topsoil.
NZP was tapped to provide efficient energy to the plant through voltage optimization.
Results
NZP exceeded the savings projection of 6% of the annual plant energy spend by delivering 7-8% annual savings, extending the life of the new sensitive processing equipment, and reduced carbon emissions by 310,000 pounds per year.

Mount St. Mary’s University
Mount St. Mary’s University academic facilities engaged Johnson Controls to develop a comprehensive plan to utilize energy savings to offset deferred maintenance needs. NZP developed a solution for voltage optimization on key buildings on campus.
The project entailed 4 primary buildings, one of which was the Coad School of Science. This building had been plagued with conditioning issues and power quality events.
Results
The overall project stabilized power to the buildings and exceeded the 7% projection of savings providing a 9-year return on investment. This project was delivered on time, on budget, with no interference to operations or loss of research materials.
Increase of 9% Savings Annually
Wastewater Treatment Pump Station
The Town of Emmittsburg has been energy conscious for decades and is widely known among Maryland Municipalities as the Green Leader in the state.
Results
The project involved a pump station used to boost material from town to the plant located on the outskirts of town. After installing voltage optimization, the town recognized a 20% reduction in electricity consumption that reduced the town’s overall energy consumption by 2%.
