Power Factor Correction
Power Factor Correction is an energy-saving system that saves you money by removing reactive power charges from your electricity bill.
How does it work?
Power Factor Correction
Some electrical equipment like motors consume both regular (active) power and reactive power. The ratio of these is known as the Power Factor.
If a site has too much reactive power, then a penalty charge is added to your electricity bill. Power Factor Correction removes the reactive power and also the reactive charges from your bill.

Standard PFC

- Custom systems designed to the specific sites requirements
- Supplied in powder coated steel enclosures to prevent corrosion and exposure to harsh environments
- May be installed on large plant equipment as well as incoming mains
- Options for RS232, RS485, USB ports and Ethernet communications
- High accuracy TRMS measurements
- Connection in single or three phase lines and co-generation systems with 4-quadrant operation with dedicated set point cosphi
- Wide selection of electrical measurements, including voltage and current THD with harmonic analysis up to 15th order
- Wide voltage measurement range (50-720VAC)
- Balanced use of stages with same power rating, extends the life of the capacitors
- Capacitor over-current protection
- Stage failure alarm

- Maintenance counter in hours and number of operations for the stages

Detuned PFC

As standard PFC but detuned.
Detuned PFC enables PFC still to be installed on sites with higher levels of harmonic distortion (generally where sites have a high proportion of variable speed motors on site) on the supply which otherwise would damage the PFC system and reduce its life expectancy.
Detuned PFC operates exactly the same as Standard PFC, except each capacitor stage is fitted with Detuning Reactors (Harmonic Filters) to protect them.
